The Oceanogràfic of Valencia is the largest aquarium in Europe, located within the iconic City of Arts and Sciences complex. Opened on February 14, 2003, it spans around 110,000 m² and houses over 45,000 animals from approximately 500 species, representing key marine ecosystems such as the Mediterranean, wetlands, temperate and tropical seas, oceans, Arctic, Antarctic, islands, and the Red Sea. It also features a large dolphinarium and immersive underwater tunnels. The Oceanogràfic combines scientific research, marine conservation, rehabilitation of marine wildlife, and environmental education. It is the only institution in Europe accredited by the U.S. Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), ensuring high standards in animal welfare and conservation excellence.
