The Harry Potter film saga was shot on Leavesden for over ten years. As the books of the saga continued to be published while the films were being shot, the production team kept many of the sets, props and clothes that had been created for the films, in case they were needed again in a later release. By the time filming of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 ended in 2010, the production team had amassed thousands of complex and beautiful artifacts, many of which would not have been preserved in a normal production. The Warner Bros. Studio Tour London: The creation of Harry Potter wanted to preserve and display these iconic sets, props and clothes so that Harry Potter fans could experience first-hand the magic of cinema. Many actors and production members returned to the studio to reassemble sets and record their film memorabilia, and on March 31, 2012 the Studio Tour opened.
