Columbus Monument

It is one of the city's most iconic sculptures. Inaugurated in 1888 for the World's Fair, this monument pays tribute to Christopher Columbus, the famous explorer who reached America in 1492. The column is approximately 60 meters tall and is crowned by a statue of Columbus pointing out to sea, symbolizing his voyage into the unknown.
