Neuschwanstein Castle, located in Schwangau, Bavaria, is one of Germany’s most iconic and picturesque landmarks. Commissioned by King Ludwig II in 1869 as a romantic ideal of a medieval castle, it blends historic architectural styles with cutting-edge technology of its time. Though never fully completed, it opened to the public in 1886 and now welcomes over 1.3 million annual visitors. In 2025, it was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the "Palaces of King Ludwig II of Bavaria".
